Braves May 10th edition. Smoltzy started the week for the Braves against the Brew Crew and picked up his 6th win of the season with a complete game shut out. Now that had the home fans cheering. Overall it was a 5-2 week for the Braves with a sweep of the Brewers, and then 2 out of three with the Pirates. The Cubs and Cards for a change were rooting for the Braves in those three games. Smoltz second game of the week ended in a ND cause his defense gave up two unearned runs. The one win puts him at 397 and three games to magic 400. Smoltz continues to lead the league in Ks. The really concerning aspect of the week is that the two losses the Braves got blanked in both. It is looking like the Braves have finally found a permanent replacement for Doug Corbett. Jose Valverde was handed the rock midway through last season, and had a pretty good end to the season, but he’s been on fire this season already notching his 16th save. He had 12 in April and has already picked up four more this month. While he has a long way to fill the shoes of the amazing Corbett, skipper has really been loving what he has been seeing out of Jose. The main two other bullpen arms look like they are finally settling down, and hopefully will regain last seasons form. Since moving into the 5th starter spot F Cordova looks like he has found a home there and is 2-0 in his two starts allowing just 2 earned runs in 14 1/3 innings.
