Now that is what I am talking about Braves fans. After playing non stop meh, the Braves showed up and went 6 – 0 last week, including taking two from the D – Backs! The three top Pitchers are all now 20 game winners, and have a 64 – 10 record for the season. Now that is some excellent results, having your top three post a .865 winning percentage.
Maddux notched two wins for the week, bringing him to two games from tying the all time record. Start shredding secret documents for the ticker tape parade if it happens this season. Smoltz won his only start and now is 9 games back from the all time record. In the other countdown, Archi smacked out a dinger versus Arizona and now is just 24 dingers from 400.
Valverde has fallen to second place in the quest to break Corbett’s record, and now is two saves behind the Sandman over in the AL.
With the 6 – 0 week, the Braves have the largest lead in any division, and now have a magic mark of only three games to clinch the NL East for a record setting 21st straight year. Who knew that when the current skipper was hired in 1977 he would become thee most dominant skipper in the league during the regular season. Too bad it hasn’t lead to more post season success, however the title ever 5 years average probably isn’t too far off being pretty dang good. After checking it is the best ratio in the league.
