Well fuck Braves fans, after a great 6 – 0 week, the Braves decided to just suck it and have another 4 – 3 week. Even though the Braves have been mainly suckin it they, the Braves have the second best record in Baseball are the first to wrap up their division. It was looking like a foregone conclusion even in June, the Braves now have won the NL East for the 21st straight time.
Greg Maddux went 1 – 1 for the week and has one last chance this season to tie the record for most wins EVA. He is sitting at 421 for his win total. Smoltz is off in the wing, and who knows had he not missed 5.5 weeks, he might be at the same win total as Greg. Currently John has 415 wins, and leads the league for wins this season with 24. Had he not been injured, John could have easily been a 30 game winner. Valverde has tied the Sandman again in saves and both look to join the exclusive 50 saves in a season club. If memory serves this reporter correctly the feat has only been done 6 times previously, and three of them were by Doug Corbett.
Archi, did basically nothing last week and is still 24 dingers away from 400. It is starting to look bleak for him to actually get there as it will be hard for him to get the same kind of production next year too.
Jim Abbott is having his best season ever and already has broken his own record for most wins in a season. Having only won 20+ games once before in his career he has 22 this year!
