News out of St Louis is that the Cardinals are going to fire their GM at the end of the season citing a difference in philosophy for the future.
"It is what it is" said Carpenter, "to be honest, I'm just not as interested as I was 20 years ago when I started."
The Redbirds have been stuck in a rut recently, which correlates with the GM's waning interest. "Free Agency prices have become stupid and trading anything has become nearly impossible" mentioned Carpenter. "The only trades we've really completed the past few seasons were junk deals to get league bonuses."
The struggle in St Louis has been real, with Carpenter trying different things to get some success, measured in World Series Championships, but it's not happened for a long time. "It's time for someone else to try because I'm done."
Asked if he'd ever return "I'll keep the door open, but something's got to change." Asked for further conversation all we got was "No comment."
