Pittsburgh once again doubled their win total for the season and stand at 4-23. They ride a two game winning streak into sim #4 and if this trend continues they will win 4 games during the next sim and 8 the next. Let's see what happened.
4/25
Day off, I am sure the organization will use it to come out on the 26th as a better team.
4/26
This was one of those games that was over before the team got off the bus. We are assuming they got off the bus. The Pirate bats were quiet in the top of the first. The Phillies scored what would prove to be the game winning run, the first of 10 runs but the game winner either way, in the bottom of the first. Otf course the Philly bullpen got the night off as Sheetz (haha) went 9 and shut the Pirates out 10-0. Adams went 2-4 and Erstadt walked but got thrown out stealing.
4/27
Hebson and Hamels both went complete games but it was more of the same. The Phillies had to wait until the 4th inning to get their first run but would ride a dominant starting performance by Hamels to a 2-0 win. Erstadt picked up his 12th stolen base of the year. Hamels improved to 2-1 on the season and Hebson falls to 1-4. With one of the more respectable ERAs on the staff, he could be a target after the June 1st FA trade moratorium is lifted. The Pirates fall to 0-2 on the sim and extend their losing streak to two games.
4/28
Things started out on a very positive note in game three as the Pirates went looking to avoid a sweep. Adams hit a one out triple in the first and Nieves would drive him in to get the scoring started. Homeruns by Josh Griffin in the 2nd AND 3rd innings would give the Bucs a 5-0 lead. Then the Phils started to chip away as Willis gave up 2 and the defense cost him an extra run before he was lifted in the 7th. Wilson gave up 2 runs and Gabbard would give up the game winner and be tagged with the loss as the Phillies come from behind and win 6-5 to sweep the 3 game series. Pirates start the sim 0-3.
4/29
After a terrible series against a very good Phillies team the Pirates returned home to play a Colorado team hanging around the NL West race and looking for some easy games to rest their bullpen. Once again the Pirate bats were hot to start the game, jumping out to a 3-0 edge before the Rockies started to chip away at the lead in the 4th and blew it open with a 3 run 8th inning. The Rockies didn't get a complete game from Liriano but he did go into the 7th as the Rockies win 8-4. Erstadt picks up SB #13.
4/30
The Rockies weren't messing around in this one. Dreifort gave up 5 over 4.2 innings and the route was on. The Rockies cruise to a 12-3 win as the Pirates drop their 5th in a row and star the sim 0-5. 4 fielding errors certainly didn't help the situation in this one.
5/1
Once again the Pirates avoid a sweep in fashion. The Bucco offense absolutely unloaded their offensive frustrations onto the Rockies winning 15-3. This time it was Colorado who jumped out to the 2-0 lead before the Pirates scored a run in the bottom of the 1st and they scored runs in every inning except the 8th. Brian Anderson got his first win of the season giving up 3 runs over 8 innings and Francisco Cordova picked up the save as he works out of the bullpen after missing last season. He is likely to move into the starting rotation by June. Pittsburgh ends their 5 game losing streak and are 1-5 on the sim.
5/2
The Pirates get their first 2 game winning streak of the season defeating the Rockies 3-2 to split the series in dramatic extra inning style. It looks like Adams got the game winning hit.
Like I said, we just have to keep doubling our wins. But, in the event that doesn't happen, here is a look at the Lotto Pick Odds Standings
1. Pittsburgh 4-23
2. TB 2 gb
2. Cincy 2 gb
4.SD 4 gb
4. Cleveland 4 gb
