SAN FRANCISCO - Great days are rare. But not for San Francisco's right-hander Tim Lincecum. Los Angeles (N) found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just 2 hits. It's his 3rd shutout this season, and the 16th time he has done it in his career. 'I didn't feel that I had good stuff while warming up. But it got better the more I threw the ball. I guess I was lucky.' Lincecum (5-1) was overpowering, fanning 11 while walking 2, throwing 114 pitches. Carlos Febles provided San Francisco with the offense Lincecum needed as he finished 3 for 4, homering once, scoring two runs with 2 RBI. The final score of the game was 6-0.
Thursday 5/8/2014: Adam Wainwright turns in great performance against Boston
BOSTON - Houston's right-hander Adam Wainwright is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Boston found out the hard way, getting just one hit. Wainwright 3rd shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 28th shutouts in his career. Wainwright (4-1) was overpowering, fanning 11 while walking none, throwing 108 pitches. 'I was able to keep´em off balance. That certainly helped.'
