Pete: Hey everyone it's Skip & Pete here talking Atlanta Baseball and today we will cover the draft.
Skip: As mentioned in a previous broadcast Atlanta held 56 draft picks in the first 3 rounds and traded them all away because the GM must have been hit on the head with a really heavy object as a child.
Pete: Actually I heard he ran into a dump truck in an otherwise empty field when he was 6 on a mini bike and launched into the door head first
Skip: That could explain some things...
Pete: Yes it could...
Skip: Anyways, in the first we got a multi talented fielder that can play any position in the outfield and 1st base, Gary Redus. His hitting needs some work but the guy is as fast as they come. We've heard a rumor with all the talent already in the OF they are gonna have him work at 1B.
Pete: In the second Atlanta had two picks and with the first they took the raw talented SS Wayne Tolleson, that with a lot of hard work could end up as a spectacular backup at both 2B and SS.
Skip: then with the 2nd 2nd round pick again the GM put up a scratcher. All anyone can think was a highrisk choice for a potential base stealing threat, in OF Mark Gilbert.
Pete: In the third I swear their first pick was because of his name... 2B Shooty Babitt. Shooty is a long shot that starts with good defensive fundamentals, alas if he doesn't improve his hitting ability, he will never make the majors.
Skip: To round out the draft, SS Ricky Adams was chosen, and like Shooty, can play the field but needs to work on his hitting. A longshot to make the majors but who knows... I mean if you can't miss one dump truck in an empty field... What Jim?
Pete: Jim is our producer for those listening at home
Skip: So Jim you are saying the GM is on the phone and wanted to clarify there were two dump trucks in the field and he only hit one of them?... ok then...
Pete: wha... ah... Wweeeellllllll there you have it Braves fans... the recap of this years draft, and soon we'll be seeing you at the ball park
