Well Braves fans, the GM BrianH has possibly struck gold with his wheeling dealing and looking for roses in the free agent market. Just hours after the blockbuster deal to bring Gary Reonicke to town, BrianH persuaded the Gravedigger to also join the Braves. After having a disappointing 80 season in Chicago, Richie is looking to find new life at the Launching Pad in Atlanta. Richie told BrianH that with Murph and Jackson on the team seemed like a great fit and he was gonna sign, and as he landed in town to ink the deal, saw the news flash that Gary was also coming, and he was picked up on mic muttering "hell had I known he was coming too, I would have offered to play for free"
Richie is excited to be the other corner on the coffin from Reggie playing 3rd. Even better at knocking the leather off the ball than Gary, Richie parks one every 21 at bats. The last two years, the Braves have only had Murph and Reggie as legit homer threats, and now if teams wanna pitch around them, they will just be loading the bases for guys that can go yard.
With the excitement over the team here in Atlanta, one really must have to wonder if Blondie was singing about the talent in town when they penned the current number one, this day Feb 6th, 1981
