How are we trying to do this? Meaning, if I have a 25 year old, I'd guess his talents should probably lineup with his career numbers. But if I have a 35 year old, what then? Still career numbers? Should they align with his numbers late in his career?

Should they align with his numbers late in his career? Your 25 year old should have actual ratings that are similar to his 1952-1954 stats and talent that is representative of how he does in the late 1950's. Think of the potential ratings 'pulling' on the actual ratings. For example, if said batter has a "Good" talent rating and "4" actual rating in Hits, the "Good" rating will 'pull' on the "4" to make it "5" or "6" over time, especially if he is younger. If the player is older and has a "Fair" talent rating and "7" actual rating in Hits, the "Fair" rating will 'pull' on the "7" to make it "6", "5" and so on. The 35 year old's talent ratings aren't so important anymore, but should allude to how much time he has left in his career. I would worry more about the actual ratings. If the player plays into his 40s (like Musial), then his talent ratings should remain Good/Brilliant.

Please refer to the ratings chart for actual rating adjustments for all players. You may also request talent rating adjustments as well, particularly for those players less than 26 years of age. You may request changes to all other ratings, such as speed, steal, fielding pct., fielding range, duration, etc.
You may even request changes to the loyalty rating, but will be limited to 2 requests per team, provided that such players had played with your team at least 10 years in real life. I am limiting the number of requests because by making certain players "loyal" to your team, we are effectively creating franchise players. That is OK for now because all players pre-1973 were pretty much stuck with their team unless traded.
Players who have a major league contract will not be converted to a minor league contract, but the salary may be reduced to league minimum of $300K, provided that they have less than four (4) years of experience pursuant to their career statistics. Please note that I do not have any control on the arbitration status.
Gripes will close on August 31st.
Please note that I will be looking at the top 10 rated and top 10 prospects of each team. There are some players who will need some downgrading, to a point. See, for example, Hub Kittle on the Phillies. I will post my changes for review. You will have an opportunity to request some leniency, but my decision will be final.

Is there a certain format that we should post this stuff in to make it easier for you? Would a link to baseball reference (site I've been using) help if we request changes? What about the Consistency and Clutch ratings? I won't argue for Great very often, but I sure seem to have a lot of very inconsistent and Suffers. Can we get those bumped to Norman in most cases? And will we be able to make the ratings more even between righty/lefty? I see a lot of players that have an 8 in hits vs one, and a 5 vs the other. Since we aren't going to distinguish between that in their career stats, if it should be a 7, can we make it a 7 against both righties/lefties? Sorry for asking a lot of questions.

That isn't really a complaint. It's more of a question so we don't waste time or forget certain info that might help the Commish.

Any format is fine, but I prefer reference to baseball-reference.com, yes. If you could link to the player directly in your post, even better.
I am OK with changing consistency ratings, but it should be obvious when looking at career statistics. I am less likely to change clutch or L/R splits---too much work. While you are basically doing the work FOR me, I still need to verify each request.

You wouldn't really have to verify anything on the L/R. If I show that Player A should be a 7 in hits, and currently he is an 8 against righties and a 5 against lefties, you just make them both 7's. That is what you will be doing anyways, right?

Forget all the griping. Set it based on your own level of standards uniformly across the league.

I'm finding some small changes on several players, but I'm also finding guys like Lasorda on my team that are crazy overrated. Not gonna be fair if I point all of those guys out on my roster, and some of you don't, other than the Commish has to go through and look for himself.

No but it would have been fair if all were left the same with no gripe changes.

You'll always have the fact not everyone goes about this the same way. Some will be stricter, others will interpret things differently ... I haven't started mine yet to gauge what others do first. But there will still be differences and it'll up to the Commish to make certain all teams basically got the same sort of treatment, which I can imagine would still be a helluva lot of work.
