Well Baseball fans, spring training is over and the games now count. Everyone is giddy with excitement as we launch into another season of the unknown. Will the 8 teams that made the playoffs last year have success this year?
The Braves started off hot, going 11-4 to start the season, which according to skipper was way better than he expected with having to face all division foes which are all great teams, and any of them could win the division according to him.
For a change, the hitters carried the team, with a blistering .279 batting average, while the pitchers had a 3.20 ERA which for the Braves is at least .5 over normal.
One of the offensive explosions came from 3b Brouhard, who belted 8 hrs, and had 20 rbi's. While we know he cannot possibly keep up that pace, it's been fun to watch so far.
Rookie Smoltz has 3 starts and a single win, but he has been having issues with control, walkin 8 against the Pirates in his last start.

gah... 87 is the year I graduated HS, and makes me think of back before he was a cop and I was a socially awkward teenager.... Miss him.
