Well Braves fans, I guess, they have heard the concern about what will the fans do if the Mets take the East, after being so spoiled with being able to go to Brave games in October. The last week the Braves went 6-1, and have opened the lead over the Mets to 5 games.
Part of the surge has been the play of sophomore Greg Maddux, who has been insane with only giving up 1 run in his last 23 innings going 3-0 in that stretch, including a complete game shutout.
While Maddux's performance has been nothing less than spectacular, it still isn't even close to how amazing the Caveman has been. In what has got to be a record, Don has 3 straight complete game shutouts, giving him a record of 3-0 with an era of 0.00 over 27 innings. Braves pitching under the pitching couch Leo has always been great, but what Don and Greg have done over their last 3 starts each is just done right what myths and legends are based on.to think these guys could be sharing the field together for the almost a decade, is just not fair to the rest of the league.
Not to be completely outdone, Fulgham also went 3-0 and continues to lead the league in wins, gaining his 15, 16 and 17th during the same stretch.
When asked, what makes them so good, each one, just says "John" and kinda does a head bob toward the elder statesman on the rotation, John Matlack. While John isn't quite having the kind of year he's been known for here in "Hot Lanta" he is still 2nd on the team with wins, on pace to win at least 17 for the season.
