What can you say about the fighting fish of Miami? This is a totally new experience to fans of the new kids on the block, but after watching the boys in teal go 28-10 since July 1, fans are starting to dream, and can you blame them? Let's be real, the Marlins still have a big mountain to climb, but what at one point this year was never even something thought about has all of a sudden given fans playoff dreams. The Marlins are still 8 games out of the division lead, trailing the surprising Expos and defending division winning Atlanta Braves. That being said, everything seems to be going the Marlins way. They've faced injuries to rookie sensation Roy Halladay, who should be back in another week or so, now Randy Winn, who's hit like the Marlins anticipated after being recalled from AAA a few weeks ago will miss a month, and one of the teams top 2 starters, Mark Hutton will miss at least one if not two starts with arm fatigue. Can the Marlins hang in? It's not probable, but they've given baseball fans in Miami a reason to come out to the park, and they've situated themselves well to have continued success in to 1999. 19 games over .500? Nobody would have seen that. But here we are. The next 6 weeks will be sure to bring excitement, hopefully the good kind as these Fish seem determined to not go away.
