Sunday 9/29/2012: Toronto's Gomez severely injured
TORONTO - Toronto's leftfielder Carlos Gomez suffered a season ending injury when he was struck by a pitch from New York (A)'s Jimmy Gobble. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Toronto wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Gomez had suffered a Broken Wrist. Gomez has hit for a .273 average this season. He has 46 extra base hits along with 191 total bases, resulting in a .470 slugging percentage.
Friday 9/27/2012: Mike Hinckley (BOS) will miss 4-5 weeks
BOSTON - Boston's lefty Mike Hinckley suffered a severe injury on Wednesday and will be out for at least 4-5 weeks. In the 6th of the game against Kansas City he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Strained Elbow Ligament. His ERA of 14.00 helped him to a 0-4 record this year. He struck out 32 and walked 88 in 63 innings.
Wednesday 9/25/2012: Chicago (N)'s Webb wins Player of the Week award
The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Cleveland's Victor Martinez this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Victor was on fire, hitting .538 with 3 HR and 20 RBI. The National League's best player of the week was Chicago (N)'s Brandon Webb, who wins the award for the 4th time in his career. Webb was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 1.10. Along the way he struck out 21 in 16.1 innings. He hurled a shutout as well.
