Tuesday 4/22/2014: 5-hit performance by San Diego's Manny Machado
ST. LOUIS - Manny Machado is among the best pure hitters in the game, but his 5 hit performance seemed to surprise even himself. A pitch from Allan Simpson in the 4th inning left his bat for a double. His 2nd hit was a RBI double off Allan Simpson in the 6th inning. In the 8th inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Anthony Vasquez. His 4th hit, a solo homerun off Bruce Billings in the 9th inning, cleared the fence in right-center. His 5th cleared the based, a three-run double off Mickey Storey in the 9th inning. Manny did drive in 6 while scoring 4 runs on his own. He now has a total of 15 hits this season, accounting for a .246 batting average. San Diego scored 18 runs on 21 hits.
Monday 4/21/2014: Cincinnati's Bullington severely injured
CINCINNATI - When it rains, it pours. Cincinnati's right-hander Bryan Bullington will not pitch for at least 9 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Pittsburgh where he left the field in the 1st inning. After being taken to a local hospital, Bullington was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Bone Chips Shoulder. Bryan has a record of 1-1 this season, with an ERA of 4.41. In 16.1 Innings he was able to strike out 12 batters.
Monday 4/21/2014: Player of the Week honors go to Stanton and Metcalf

Sunday 4/20/2014: Pat Burrell collects 2000th hit against Philadelphia
SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco's first baseman Pat Burrell was in good mood after the game against Philadelphia, and he had every reason as he made some history while collecting his 2000th career hit. He hit a single in the 2nd off Cole Hamels for number 2000. His best year so far was 2008 where he hit .272 with 29 homeruns and 96 RBI. 'Good things happen when you put the bat on the ball.'
Sunday 4/20/2014: New York (N)'s Cornejo out for full season
NEW YORK (N) - New York (N)'s right-hander Nate Cornejo will not pitch again this year, suffering a serious injury in the game against Colorado on Sunday. Cornejo was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Torn Rotator Cuff Muscle. Opposing players hit .212 against Nate this season. In the 9th of the game against Pittsburgh he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. Kershaw was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. COLORADO - Jose Reyes hits 'em where they ain't. St. Louis certainly agrees as Colorado's designated hitter unloaded five hits, adding to his reputation of being one of the best pure hitters in the game. A double off Luke French in the 1st inning accounted for his 1st hit. Number 2 in the 2nd inning accounted for a double. OAKLAND - 'Wow, five hits in one game is something special, isn't it?' said Oakland's centerfielder Aaron Rowand after the 13-3 win over Baltimore.
