NEW YORK (A) - Great days are rare. But not for New York (A)'s southpaw Oliver Perez. San Diego found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just 2 hits. It's his 4th shutout this season, and the 38th time he has done it in his career. Perez (11-3) fanned 7 and walked 2, throwing 134 pitches. 'Today I just felt fine. I had a good feeling while warming up.' Justin Morneau provided New York (A) with the offense Perez needed as he finished with 3 hits in 5 AB, hitting a homerun, scoring three times and driving in 3 runs. New York (A) scored 16 runs on 16 hits.
Tuesday 6/16/2015: Ubaldo Jimenez fires 1-hitter against Boston
BOSTON - Ubaldo Jimenez took the mound and never left. And Boston hitters couldn't touch him at all. Colorado's right-hander gave up just one hit in his 2nd shutout of the season. He now has 24 career shutouts in 316 games started. Jimenez (7-3) fanned 5 and walked 2, throwing 99 pitches. 'They took some ugly cuts at my breaking stuff, so I kept throwing it. Monday 6/15/2015: Lawrie and Kintzler win Player of the Week award
The American League's best player of the week was Detroit's Brett Lawrie, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. Brett was on fire, hitting .458 with 3 HR and 10 RBI. The Player of the Week award in the National League goes to Colorado's Brian Kintzler this time, as the pitcher displayed the best pitching perfomance in his league. Brian went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00, while fanning 5 in 17.2 innings of work. He hurled a shutout as well.
Saturday 6/13/2015: C.C. Sabathia (MIN) will miss 6-7 weeks
MINNESOTA - Minnesota is without its ace C.C. Sabathia for at least 6-7 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Tommy Pham in a game against Arizona. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Ruptured Bicep Tendon which will require surgery. This season Sabathia compiled an ERA of 2.30, going 7-5 in 13 starts. He fanned 93 while giving up 71 hits in 98 innings. He has 5 complete games and 4 shutouts.
Friday 6/12/2015: Oakland's Danks severely injured
OAKLAND - When it rains, it pours. Oakland's left-hander John Danks will not pitch for at least 5-6 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Los Angeles (N) where he left the field in the 5th inning. After being taken to a local hospital, Danks was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Bone Chips Elbow. This season Danks compiled an ERA of 1.81, going 8-2 in 13 starts. He fanned 105 while giving up 75 hits in 104.2 innings. He has 5 complete games and 2 shutouts.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia's right-hander Ben Sheets is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Minnesota on just one hit. It's his 4th shutout this season, and the 48th time he has done it in his career. The bid for a no-hitter was broken up when Jose E. Ramirez singled with no outs in the 7th inning. Sheets (9-2) showed excellent control, walking nobody and fanning 6. 'I didn't feel that I had good stuff while warming up. But it got better the more I threw the ball. I guess I was lucky.' Hunter Renfroe provided Philadelphia with the offense Sheets needed as he finished 2 for 3, hitting a homerun, with three runs scored with 2 RBI. The final score of the game was 7-0.

TORONTO - Toronto's season has taken a hit after one of their best players, leftfielder Alex Gordon, injured himself while rounding a base. He is likely to miss 9 weeks. Ruptured Achilles Tendon was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. This year Gordon drove in 12 and scored 11 runs while batting .283 with one longball.

The hitting star for Los Angeles (A) was second baseman Emilio Bonafacio, he got 2 hits in 3 AB, scoring two runs. Los Angeles (A) scored 5 runs on 10 hits.
Tuesday 6/9/2015: Vernon Wells (MIL) will miss 5 weeks
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee's centerfielder Vernon Wells will miss about 5 weeks after he hurt himself badly in the 4th inning of the game between Milwaukee and Toronto. He dove for a drive off the bat of Jack Wilson, and immediately signaled that he's not OK after hitting the ground. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Broken Foot. Surgery will be performed next week. Wells has hit for a .179 average this season. He has 9 extra base hits along with 51 total bases, resulting in a .268 slugging percentage.
