Tuesday 9/15/2015: Houston has no chance in a 1-hitter by Zack Godley
LOS ANGELES (A) - Los Angeles (A)'s right-hander Zack Godley is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Houston found out the hard way, getting just one hit. Godley 1st shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 2nd shutouts in his career. 'Winning is the most important thing. And I gave my team all the support it needed!' Godley (15-11) was overpowering, fanning 12 while walking none, throwing 116 pitches. Los Angeles (A)'s centerfielder Mike Trout collected 4 hits in 6 trips to the plate, blasting a homerun, scoring two runs and collecting 6 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Godley. Los Angeles (A) scored 22 runs on 22 hits.
Monday 9/14/2015: Cano and Williams win Player of the Week award
Minnesota's second baseman Robinson Cano had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the American League Player of the Week. Cano helped his team with an average of .519 and 10 RBI in 27 at bats. The Player of the Week award in the National League goes to Colorado's Jerome Williams this time, as the pitcher displayed the best pitching perfomance in his league. Jerome went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.50, while fanning 12 in 18 innings of work. He hurled a shutout as well. Jerome has a record of 20-4 this season, with an ERA of 1.32. In 266.1 Innings he was able to strike out 202 batters. He has 13 complete games and 6 shutouts. He's 3rd in the National League in ERA and 6th in wins!
Saturday 9/12/2015: Ben Sheets fires 2-hitter against Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE - Age doesn't matter. At least Philadelphia's right-hander Ben Sheets shares this opinion. The 37 year old pitched a 2-hit shutout against Milwaukee, recording his 6th shutout of the season. 'I had my stuff going. Everything I tried worked. What a day!' Sheets (14-3) showed excellent control, walking nobody and fanning 7. Philadelphia's rightfielder Hunter Renfroe went 3 for 4, homering once, scoring two runs with 2 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Sheets. Philadelphia improved its record to 94-49, scoring 4 runs on 10 hits.
Saturday 9/12/2015: C.C. Sabathia fires 1-hitter against Chicago (A)
MINNESOTA - Great days are rare. But not for Minnesota's left-hander C.C. Sabathia. Chicago (A) found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just one hit. It's his 6th shutout this season, and the 23rd time he has done it in his career. 'I was able to keep´em off balance. That certainly helped.' Sabathia (12-9) showed excellent control, walking nobody and fanning 8. Wilin Rosario provided Minnesota with the offense Sabathia needed as he went 1 for 2, blasting a homerun. Minnesota scored 4 runs on 4 hits.
Friday 9/11/2015: Nate Cornejo turns in great performance against San Francisco
NEW YORK (N) - Nate Cornejo took the mound and never left. And San Francisco hitters couldn't touch him at all. New York (N)'s right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 2nd shutout of the season. He now has 39 career shutouts in 400 games started. 'I had my stuff going. Everything I tried worked. What a day!' Cornejo (10-13) struck out 3 and issued 3 BB, throwing 62 of 111 pitches for strikes. Travis Metcalf helped Cornejo at the plate, he finished 3 for 4, stroking two 2B's. The final score of the game was 1-0.

SAN FRANCISCO - Madison Bumgarner took the mound and never left. And San Diego hitters couldn't touch him at all. San Francisco's lefty gave up just one hit in his 3rd shutout of the season. He now has 18 career shutouts in 154 games started. 'My catcher called a very good game. I have to give credit to him.' Bumgarner (20-4) struck out 9 and walked 2, throwing 71 of 118 pitches for strikes. The hitting star for San Francisco was designated hitter Andre Ethier, he got 4 hits in 4 AB, homering twice, scoring two runs and collecting 2 RBI. San Francisco scored 5 runs on 10 hits.
Wednesday 9/9/2015: Brett Lawrie socks five hits for Detroit
TEXAS - 'You know, in batting practice I didn't really feel that comfortable about my stroke today, but baseball is more than hitting. Then, when you're not trying to force a hit, you slug them in droves,' says Brett Lawrie after his 5 hit game, which Detroit won 13-0 against Texas. A 447 foot drive to center field marked his 2nd hit, a solo homerun off Daisuke Matsuzaka in the 5th inning. In the 8th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Yovanny Lara. He collected singles in the 2nd inning , in the 6th (one RBI) and in the 9th inning . Brett did drive in 4 while scoring 3 runs on his own. He is hitting .272 this season, with 27 HR and 91 RBI.
