CINCINNATI - Cincinnati's season has taken a hit after one of their best players, rightfielder Leon Durham, injured himself while rounding a base. He is likely to miss 4-5 weeks. After being taken to a local hospital, Durham was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Pulled Groin Muscle. Leon is hitting .281 this year, with 140 hits in 499 at bats. He has driven in 76 runs, slugging .483.

PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh's lefty Floyd Bannister is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Los Angeles (N) found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Bannister 1st shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 2nd shutouts in his career. 'I hit the corners with all of my pitches. That helped a lot!' Bannister (8-14) fanned 7 and walked 1, throwing 101 pitches. Harold Baines helped Bannister at the plate, he got 3 hits in 4 AB, homering once, with 2 RBI. Pittsburgh improved its record to 49-113, scoring 3 runs on 9 hits.
