WOW, OK people, dial it back a notch. No one is going to quit over this, right? RIGHT? First of all, I am just looking for input. Tanking can be a problem and I would like to address this. The Wheel is just ONE idea. I agree with Spencer, this would probably make more sense in a non-historic or non-modified league, but that means it might be a good idea in the future, when we catch up with real time and do not already have pre-ordained ratings for players who are not even born yet. And break, this is not about you per se, but about the concept of tanking. So while the wheel is not popular, just note that it has 40% support. I'll revisit this later. So let's look at a lottery at the bottom 4-6 picks then. Yeah but you and I both know you were getting complaints about me while they ignored a team that literally didn't have backups all year last season. Is this true or is this just Break making it all about himself again? I've never had an issue with how GM's run their team in this league. I guess you could say I'm essentially "tanking" right now. I knew I had a rebuild coming and then a year or two ago I started a little hotter than I anticipated and ended up being a buyer instead of a seller, ended up letting some FA's walk that I could have moved and now I'm paying the price. My team is bankrupt from trying to make a run and I'm about a year in to a rebuild. People who are active and are in rebuild mode shouldn't be punished, especially when they put forth effort and more importantly a lot of dollars and lost a lot of youth trying to compete a few years prior.

I just laugh anyways find me a rule I'm breaking and I'll take the tank stuff seriously. I just hate wheel unless it's the from the start like it was in hftc
HFTC didn't have the wheel from the start. It started circa the 2050 season, 47 seasons after the league started. There was an epidemic of 3-4 teams winning 30 games a year, teams tanking to see who would get the top pick. It takes no skill or strategy to lose that many games.

I just laugh anyways find me a rule I'm breaking and I'll take the tank stuff seriously. I just hate wheel unless it's the from the start like it was in hftc It's not about you break, I've said that already lol --- it's about the concept of full-blown tanking and it's been on my mind for a long while now. It just so happens you are tanking right this minute. Stool is too. I did it a couple seasons ago (49 wins). I'm just saying there needs to be an incentive to field a reasonable team (meaning not lose 110+ games) while still rebuilding as intended. The reason it is coming up now is that Matt (HFTC) gave me an idea. That idea does not have much support (at this time), so I'm moving onto another idea, which I'll post shorty (still at work). I appreciate the input, so please calm down and no one quit. Jeeeeezzzzzz.

It takes less skill to sit between 60-90 wins forever because you don't sell your good pieces when it's time.
Right.
So knowing that the wheel was started after 50 seasons in HFTC, is there another reason you wouldn't want to do something about tanking?
The worst teams here regularly win 40+ why fix what really isn't a problem here

No, it's been on my mind for a while (see last post). I believe Matt saw the 6 wins by Boston and wondered if there were any rules. I pointed him to the Historic Wins chart for the history:
Red Sox: 27 in 1980 Indians: 42 in 1976 Yankees: 49 in 1977 Mariners: 38 in 1979 Rangers: 38 in 1964 Expos: 38 in 1969 (expansion) Pirates: FOUR seasons less than 40! Cardinals: 36 in 1977 Padres: 28 in 1972
As an outsider, I welcomed his opinion, suggested the wheel, lottery (weighted or unweighted, etc.), I thought of maximum losses (does BBS still do that?). And I wanted to bring the issue up again.
So was this being brought up because of Break? Nope. It would be more accurate to say it is being brought up because of how few wins Boston, and other teams throughout the years, have or have had. There is no correlation between this issue and break. If Matt found us 5 seasons ago, we'd be asking "is this being brought up specifically because of Matt C. and the COMMISH" tanking?

in retrospect, the tanking here, allowed me to win the east during a rebuild.... That is rebuilding; your worst season was 77 wins in 1975 and I am not even sure you were around then? If not, 78 wins in 1978. I'm just looking at uber-tanking, not the concept of rebuilding. Rebuilding is not tanking.

My two cents...I am not that concerned about tanking and I think it is a legitimate practice. As a Royals fan IRL, I would have gladly taken the Marlins model with a championship every 6 years with bad teams in between. If we do make a change, I vote for a lottery.
