Hmm, for some reason, we're stuck with being able to draft only 5 rounds. I checked the league setting and it's been at "10" so not sure why that happened. I guess when I did the realignment, it changed it?
Weird.
Unless, in order to be consistent, we just make it 5 rounds from now on? Let teams pick off 2 star talent in FA pool? Thoughts?

Although it would screw up the expansion-era drafts because I manually plug in expansion team picks in the 2 seasons prior. Leaving it at 5 rounds means the last 10 picks in the 5th round would be lopped off next season, because I am adding the Angels and Senators next season, each to pick in the rounds in order to build up an minor league system.
I suppose it should be left at 10+ and I can "fake" the rest of the draft (just have to edit draft log, team draft logs and player history (change "Signed as a Minor League Free Agent" to "Drafted in the 6th Round by xxx in 1958").
Meh

Eh, only do the logs if you couldn't live with an inaccurate record otherwise.

I'm also finding great difficulty getting past spring training (I am taking a copied file and simming to 1959 for Matt to start working on next season's ammateur players). If I close the file and reopen, I can sim OK, but it is slow, but loading to 1959 has crashed every time, not allowing us to do off-season stuff at all.
Has anyone ever come across this issue?

Yea, I'm worried we're gonna have laborious off-seasons (silent FA auctions, fake ammy signings)...

Although I went to go back to the 1957 file and sim 1958 to 1959 for Matt and I got the same "Loading League" error on that one. I wonder if it's a Windows 7 (64-bit) thing.
I'll try on my laptop (Vista lol, but 32-bit) this evening.
Ugh.

I'll be away from the computer for a few hours for lunch with the family. Should be back around to run the draft around 2pm central. Thanks.

looks like running 32-bit OOTP5 on 64-bit Windows 7 caused all of the off-season problems on my end. I just have to use my not-so-shitty-anymore laptop running 32-bit Vista for Spring Training and File Flips.
Matt, I will email you a 1959 file in a few minutes!
move along, nothing to see here.

Tresh a steal at that spot for the Braves IMO. i mean, he's good (SH SS w/ an eye and loyal), but is he better than anyone that went before him? I realize our pick, 1b/OF Fairly, can't play SS, but more developed... to each their own, just wanted to generate some more discussion

My main reason for liking him there was I was kind of targeting him at the top of round 2, but I felt like there were still players that were better when I picked. I like Fairly as well, but filling 1B or a corner OF spot with a quality bat is pretty easy in this league with the ability to jump up players talent ratings. I have a surplus of good 1B and corner OF's in my system that will all need to be traded at some point most likely.

Spencer said his pick can be auto'd. He texted me back while I was at the gym and just got back here 10 min ago.

I'm going to let Commish auto it since he'll be on soon. I don't have a "current" version of the file downloaded here at home, with today's picks updated. We're good on time, so he can auto during tonight's sim, and get us squared away heading into tomorrow.

Anybody know how to get a hold of Washington? I sent him a PM, but I have no idea if he'll get it any time soon or not.
