Winner of this months American League Pitcher of the Month award, Pedro Martinez, might just have finally found his ace stride. His 0.88 ERA this month helped him to a 4-1 record in May after a disappointing April in which he went 1-3 with a 5.60 ERA. He worked 51 innings, striking out 52 hitters while walking 11. In 12 starts this year Pedro struck out 90 batters in 96 innings, showing that he had the stuff even when the bats kept finding it. His ERA is 3.09 after the 5.60 first month, and he turned around his record to 5-4. He has 2 complete games and one shutout, could we see this continue? Boston surely hopes so, and veteran Ace Randy Johnson was quoted as saying "Boston bats need to wake up! This lineup is talented, but clearly underachieving."
Randy saying it like it is.
