Not sure why Whitey is so blue as he was elected to the HoF in 1966.
Ford started his career playing for the Yankees in 1950, and when the league started in 53 he was still there. 54-60 he went to 6 straight all star games, and in 56 he reached the pinnacle for a pitcher winning the Cy Young award. While on the Yankees he picked up 4 world series rings in 53,55,57, and 62. During the 64 season the heartless Yankee GM thought he was washed-up and released him, but he eventually found a new home in Chicago with the White Sox. Whitey still won 20 games that year but the following only 16, and then only 4 in 66. While his career was winding down, the White Sox gave Whitey a going away present in 67, as he got his 5th and final WS ring.
Congratulations to Mr. Whitey Ford 1966's only HoF inductee.
