Let's celebrate the careers of Mickey McDermott and Curt Simmons, voted in by unanimous votes on 1st ballot.
Mickey had some inflated stats to help him, as he 6 years before the league was founded getting 57 of his wins without ever playing in HOFFBL. Beginning in 55 he started going to the All Star game, an incredible 9 straight seasons. In 14 seasons of HOFFBL he accrued 283 wins which is still incredible. He finished his career with a 2.80 ERA and if you removed the years pre HOFFBL it would be even lower. He is still number 4 all time with 340 wins, number 18 all time with 220 complete games and number 12 all time with 58 complete game shutouts. Mickeys HOFFBL time started with the dodgers where he played all but two of his 14 seasons.
Curt Simmons is another guy that enjoyed success in several seasons pre Hoffbl. 74 of his 286 wins were with Phili before the league started. He was a 6 time allstar, but never won a WS, GG or a Cy Young. Not sure how he was unanimous now looking at him. Oh well...
Well congrats to them both anyways.
