Tigers brass hoping to kickstart lacklustre franchise by promoting offence
“THE CORNER” - After going a sordid 50-104 last season, for a winning percentage of a lowly .325, the Tigers’ collective brain trust decided they couldn’t take it any more and decided that they were going to shake things up. Given the success the Tigers had in the 40’ies something had to give. So, if we can’t bring people to the ballpark by winning games, we’ll do so by mashing the ball and mashing the ball hard and often during our rebuild. In order to achieve that the stadium fencing will be adjusted accordingly.
This new brand of Detroit baseball will be spearheaded by a new generation led by young outfield phenom Al Kaline with more suitable additions certain to come soon and in the coming years. To put it bluntly: all of the rest of that new generation is actually still to arrive in Detroit somehow. However, with a majors low payroll of just $13.5M and a high draft pick certain to come, there should indeed be plenty of room or means to add to the team in the (near) future.
Some negative elements in the press may point out that we lack the players to really pull off such a style of baseball, but then again it is also true that our player group lacks the qualities to pull off any credible style of play. But choosing this route should at least provide for a nice set of souvenirs for the people!
The newly chosen dimensions would be 300 at the left field line, 320 in leftfield, 360 in left field centre and 380 in dead center field and then 360 in RCF, 320 in RF and 300 at the RFL. Wall heights will be 8 feet for some nice wall catches. All in all this would yield the following estimated ball park factors: 120 AVG – 81 2B – 75 3B - 123 HR, both for lefties and righties.
Adjusting the park will cost $10M, which can be taken from our cash on hand (which actually is all our cash on hand), but given the current low payroll all of that and more will be earned back (and topped off my the league office over $20M earnings apparently) next season because of our low payroll.
In the process we would also like to rename the stadium to “Tiger Stadium”.
