Talking out loud, but I am looking to keep the young core strong (and healthy grr)
After letting Al Dark and Vic Power walk, I will be shoring up the bench. I extended Carey's contract just in case. I will probably send Kirrene down to learn another infield position.
I will probably call up IF Drake and let him get some playing time, if not take over, at 3B. McDougald will go back to 2B and Martin back to SS for the time being. I will also call up C Retzer and groom him into the new backup catcher. I don't expect him to be the catcher of the future.
The pitching staff took a hit with the loss of Collum for all of next season, but Henry is a good backup plan, although I will probably limit his starts next season. Reliever McMahan, prospects Nottebart and Gabler may see some spot starts at the #5 spot as well and chip in the bullpen. Veale and Kaat are a couple seasons away and will be protected in 1961.
It appears that my off-season needs are #5 starter and setup men. I will probably be OK for cash for now.
With that said, I am looking to consolidate my pitching strengths into a higher-ranked pitcher and early first round picks. I can send my and CHA's firsts as well but won't look to trade them until the pool is finalized.
Ideally, my first trade involves Nottebart AND Veale for a top 10 pick/pitcher.
