Didn't really want Sexson at the price he was going to command, but also didn't want him in a Braves uniform. Glad he went somewhere else and that I didn't end up with him at the
ridiculous money I was offering.

I couldn't believe he signed with the Mets. The Braves offered the magical 20M.

Maybe the auto-sign at 20M is only with extensions or when multiple teams offer 20M (but then it goes to the lower team ID number)?

if i recall back in the day i offered andy messersmith less than 20 while some did and he signed with me

In a different league. Once it was determined that a FA was going to get near 20 million. It would become an automatic blind bid situation. You didn’t HAVE to bid to 20 million but you could go to 20 million and beyond.

Some guys in this league were also in that league and might remember the details even more clearly.

Was to prevent the automatic 20 million loophole.

I think I offered 17.9 for 4 years. Honestly didn't want him to accept it but can't believe he got more then that.

My last offer was 19.3/3 I believe, which he favored, and while I do think he’d hit well in my park I didn’t think he was worth anywhere near that. Was trying to keep him out of ATL. I’d much rather have Burnitz, even if the money was the same. I’m glad I got Burnitz for what I paid than have won that bidding war.

FA Offers - After an FA sim is run and there are any offers of 15M or more outstanding, that player automatically goes into a blind bid pool. More work for me tho. Other option is to let it be. I don't tihnk the 20M bug is here.

Extensions - 20M bug is here. If anyone wants to extend a player to 20M or more, the contract years must take the player to their age-35 season. So if a player is currently 28 and you want to offer 20M, it MUST be for at least 7 seasons.

Smoething like that.

I like the 20mil 2 year option, you get the player but its hard to build a team around it. 

Agree with Stool on this one.

Many times I offer a guy 20 for 2 instead of something like 15 for 5.

I prefer overpaying for a couple years rather than being stuck with a bad contract. This way it’s different strokes for different folks/more strategy.
