Over in the East, the Yankees are looking to have a stranglehold on the division and are running it back looking like for the third straight year. The Trade for Nomo is really paying off as he is 13-3 and holding the Yankees starting lineup together, and he was selected to the AL All Star team this season. ARod and Bautista are providing the spark off their bats each with over 20 dingers and hitting over .300. Recently They traded for T Worrell who is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA giving up 9 runs in his 18 innings as a Yankee. Not sure what the Yankees were thinking on this trade. Yeah the guy is pitching good but he had a major PD that wasn’t corrected and now can not be.
Boston since the 1978 season has the record of eleven 100 or more loss seasons. No other AL team has been able to achieve the same distinction in the same time period.
From the East there were P Hideo Nomo from New York, 3B Bob Hamelin from Baltimore and P Joe Nathan from New York in the All star game.
In the Central we have Minni semi walking away with the division, opening up a 5 game lead over the White Sox. Most of the AL All stars came from Minnie and Chi town. Detroit is ever a chance to make a run and appear in the post season, however more and more that is not looking likely this season. Minnies pitching is really the story for them, setting them apparet from the pur offence of several teams.
P Robb Nen from Minnesota P Darryl Kile from Chicago (A) P Derek Lowe from Minnesota P Carl Pavano from Minnesota P Scott Williamson from Detroit P Jason Isringhausen from Chicago (A) C Bengie Molina from Detroit C Matt Walbeck from Chicago (A) 2B Roberto Alomar from Chicago (A) 3B Chipper Jones from Chicago (A) RF Bernie F. Williams from Chicago (A) 1B Frank E. Thomas from Chicago (A) DH Manny Ramirez from Minnesota RF Russell Branyan from Detroit LF Jim Edmonds from Minnesota
In the AL West, the Angels have finally realized their reign is over and are headed toa rebuild. Texas looked like a contender early on however they have faded. Texas is only four games back, but it is not looking promising. Out west the all stars were:
CF Matt Holliday from Seattle SS Mike B. Young from Seattle LF Ken Griffey Jr. from Los Angeles 1B Matt Stairs from Seattle P Ryan Madson from Texas and P Paul Wagner from Seattle made the all star game from the west.
This is where we have it for the AL as we barely cross into August in the greatest ootp5 baseball league, HOFFBL.
Good luck to all for the rest of the season!
