He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 7 games. He has hit 7 taters while batting .270 this season. His 33 hits and 11 walks add up to a .333 on-base percentage. Rondell White wins his 5th Player of the Week award. National League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Rondell was on fire, hitting .474 with 3 HR and 11 RBI. Friday 5/13/2005: John Smoltz out for 5-6 weeks
ATLANTA - Atlanta's ace John Smoltz suffered a severe injury on Friday and will be out for at least 5-6 weeks. In the 6th of the game against San Francisco he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After being taken to a local hospital, Smoltz was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Bone Chips Elbow. His ERA of 1.66 helped him to a 6-0 record this year. He struck out 76 and walked 10 in 70.2 innings. He has one complete game and one shutout. He's 3rd in the National League in ERA and 2nd in wins!
Wednesday 5/11/2005: Los Angeles (A)'s Todd Hundley gets milestone hit
LOS ANGELES (A) - Los Angeles (A)'s Todd Hundley showed a smile on his face after he got his 2000th career hit against Toronto on Wednesday. His hit in the 10th inning was a two run homerun off Kyle Farnsworth. Along with his 2000 hits, Todd collected 381 homeruns and 1418 RBI in 13 seasons. 'Good things happen when you put the bat on the ball.'
