Braves 6/16
Hard to sum up anything good from this past wek other than at least it was not a losing week. The Braves finished the week four and three, just stinking up the place. I mean they lost to Milwaukee for fuck sake. The week started with another loss to the Cards, then the Reds blanked them and won a game, scoring just a single run. The offence over that three game stretch was non freaking existent. 2 runs in 27 innings, is completely pathetic. On the bright side though, they now have a 16 game lead on the second place Senators.
Valverde only got a single save in seven games. He is still going to have a great season, but nothing like the spectacular one he was poised to have.
McClellan is pitching his heart out at age 39, and now is 8-3 on the season with a 3.47 ERA. He started the season slow, but has regained the all star form that had the Braves trade for him last season. With his age and the Braves payroll, his demands for a new contract seem fairly unlikely, but he is trying to prove that the Braves should pony up the CA$H!
This coming week, Smoltz should finally rejoin the starting rotation. With him coming back, Nomo has been pushed to the bullpen, where hopefully he will regain his form. He still has enough innings pitched to qualify for the lead in ERA where he is second.
Hopefully this coming week, we will see the Braves play better.
