Braves 8/23
Holy cow Braves fans, the league has its first 20 game winner, and it is none other than our John Smoltz. What makes it so shocking is he was out injured for over five weeks. He is just 11 games away from tying the all time record of 422 wins. Maddux has the inside shot, but blew his chance to get closer in his only start of the week as the hard luck loser to the Dodgers.
The Braves went 4 – 3 again this past week, but two fo the three teams the played are the best in baseball. 1 – 1 against the Pirates, 1 – 1 against the Dodgers, and 2 – 3 versus the Senators.
Archi picked up one more dinger and is now just 25 away from 400 on his career. Archi has never racked up the accolades in his 13 years as the Braves starting shortstop, but that just how great he really has been, quietly just knocking the skin off the ball with no one noticing.
