The Astros have traded SP Bud Smith to the Braves for 6 draft picks over the next 2 years and two starting pitchers. While the move doesn't improve the team talent wise, it brings depth to a starting rotation that struggled to stay healthy last year. As of now the Astros have 12 picks over the next two years, the rumor mill suggests that they are looking to add more picks before draft day to help bolster a very thin minor league system. This trade has already sprung up trade rumors surrounding Bronson Arroyo and Chase Utley, many baseball experts believe this could open the flood gates in Houston as they look to rebuild the entire system from top to bottom.
Francisco Cordova and Brian Tolberg join the team with pretty good numbers, however due to a recent team order under the penalty of our press credentials we are not allowed to talk about them. The hope is that they can eat enough innings to get to a solid bullpen while getting enough run support.
