Braves Opening Day 2006:
It’s been months in the making, but Opening day has come and gone, and now we look at what that means for the Braves. Maddog got his 423 win, but was pulled in his 3rd game, and sent to the hospital.
In other pitching news, the two new phenomes brought in in the off season, looked spectacular. Combined they went 5-1 and both have a sub 2.00 ERA. Smith and Rupe look to be the real deal. John ‘Sr Citizen’ Smoltz is 2-1 to start the season and still getting a K an inning. In the bullpen, Valverde got rocked in one of his appearance, but still has a save each time he has been given the ball with a chance to get a save.
Ojeda, Boone and Rabe, all went yard 3 times in the opening weeks to lead the Braves in dingers. So far the Catchers are the bright spot for the Braves, with Rabe batting .311 as the DH.
