Hoffbl April NL
Time to see what it looks like in the NL after the first month of the season.
East
The East has a surprise wonder team with the Senators racing out to an April lead, 2 games up on the projected number 1, the Phillies. Philly is riding a eight and two hot streak to bounce up from 9 – 7 to their current 17 – 9. Atlanta is thus far way underperforming and is a scant two games above 500, and better start figuring things out or this will be a long long season for Braves fans. It wouldn’t be so bad, but they traded away their pick for next season, so having a mediocre season would be quite detrimental. Florida and the Mets are battling it out to get a top pick in next years draft.
Central
Chicago is living up to expectations and is leading the Central over the defending Pirates. While the Pirates still have a tremendous team, they are one injury away from collapse with almost no depth on the team. The outrage of not picking the Pirates to repeat now looks like it was misplaced, as the prediction is coming true. In some what of a surprise, StL is currently only a 500 team. Houston is making some noise with trades, alas their team just doesn’t look good enough to eclipse either of the front runners. Firing the cat though was a huge move for the team. The Reds and the Brewers have their sights on seasons to come.
West
Arizona has the best record in baseball and looks to be the crème de la crème of the league. Arizona has thee most dominating pitching staff in the majors. Their top four starters are a combined 14-2 with an ERA about 2.00. The Dodgers look to be taking a season off from competing and look like they will wait for a few of their specs to develop before joining the fray once again. Colorado looked early on like a 90 win team, however right now they are looking like 90 will be a tad too much of a hope. The San’s are just in it for the draft this year.
