Florida Marlins President of Baseball Operations fired the entire Marlins staff after Monday's 40-1 thrashing at the hands of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Andersen visited the locker room immediately after the game to find pitcher Pat Hentgen in the process of destroying the locker room and threatening
physical violence towards the Marlins staff. Hentgen, who is widely considered to be the leader in the locker room was furious that rookie reliever was
left to take one for the team to the tune of 28 runs in 6 innings being allowed to throw an unbelievable 234 pitches. "This kid just got here and he's
trying to get his feet under him for the first time at a major league level, and this is what you do to him? This is how you ruin guys careers before they
even get started!" Hentgen raged. "I knew the drill, I know what management is trying to do, and I've played good soldier this entire time. I've not
demanded a trade even though I could have. I've tried to work with the kids, help build a good foundation for the fans, but after this I have to give serious
thought to whether or not I can put my heart and soul in to an organization that's ok with this."
Andersen, evidently was very much NOT ok with it. After the locker room cleared of all players, Andersen ripped into the staff before telling them all to
get out and not come back. Word this morning was that former Marlin Ivan Rodriguez has been named interim manager. Andersen briefly spoke to the
press when announcing the change. "First off, I want to be clear that this is NOT who we are as an organization. That was unacceptable. That may be
the worst baseball malpractice that I've seen in my 45 years around the game. I met with Jimmy this morning and apologized to him before sending him
back to Destin. I made sure to let him know that he still very much fits in to our plans and to let him know that once he gets some rest he'll certainly
get another look" Mike Venafro came back to Miami to replace Gobble in a move straight out of trading places. Andersen continued "I want to make very
clear, this was NOT about the won loss record, although a 40-1 loss makes one question whether or not management is getting through to the players.
This is very much about what happened last night to Jimmy Gobble. We appreciate Pudge coming back and helping us out here. If there's one thing we know
about Pudge, we do know he knows how to handle a pitching staff". Rodriguez was unavailable for comment. With a record of 10-24, Rodriguez isn't charged
with getting a bunch of wins as much as continuing to help develop some of the youngsters going forward.

SP Josh Rupe was promoted to AAA Destin yesterday following Scott Olson on the bus from Fernandina Beach to Destin. Rupe came to the Marlins back
in 2002 in the trade that sent Charles Johnson to the Angels. After not showing much the last number of years, something seems to have clicked this year
as he was off to a 3-1 start with a 2.92 era for the Bombers with 40 strikeouts to only 11 walks in 37 innings. At 23, soon to be 24, there was some talk
within the organization of moving Rupe to the bullpen, but for now the Marlins will be patient and see if Rupe's breakout is for real.
