Braves 5-24
I must say Braves fans, this is not the season Skip and I were thinking we would see here in Hot’ Lanta. We are less than two months in and each of the Braves four Starting pitchers has now been injured. When they have been healthy, they are 18 – 10, and when one or more is out injured to start the week, they are 7 and 12. Huge difference between the two records.
Skip and I think the team will eventually gel, but what has been trademark for the Braves the last 20 some years is winning the close games, and so far that has not happened this season, going 1-3 in extra innings and a lowly 7 – 10 in one run games.
With Smoltz going down, Maddux made the most of it, picking up two wins to go back into sole position of first on the all time win list with 425.
Thankfully, Valverde has looked to shake his early season yips and is looking like the closer he was last season.
