Braves Fanatics, this week couldn’t have come at a better time. Reeling on a subpar May where the Braves 12-10 before the week, they started the week 2 – 2 and then went on a three game win streak versus the Reds.
Part of what helped was getting Maddux back for the week after the Previous week had Maddux, Smoltz and Free Agent acquisition Ryan Rupe all out. Maddux was particularly important to have back as he won two starts during the week, picking up wins against both the Cubs and the Reds. With those wins he extended his all time win total to 426 wins.
After the Reds game a reporter asked how long he things he can keep pitching at this level, he replied “At least through 2007!”
All we know is the guy has been phenomenal with double digit wins in every one of his 21 seasons in the majors, and he has won 20 or more in 15 of his seasons.
