Braves 7/13
The Braves played well last week, however unfortunately for them, the Phillies played amazingly. Really hurting the Braves was the three game series against the Phillies where they lost two of the three. This is including a chance to beat Wakefield that has a plus five era, and they only managed to score a single run against him. Compounded by this, the one game they beat the Phillies was their only loss for the week, so they fell a game further back from said Phillies.
The bright side is they managed to beat the Brewers two times… though who has not? Also they had a win vs the Rockies winning 2 – 1, though it took them twelve innings to get the two runs. The rest of July is mainly against top teir teams and Smoltz will be out for the rest of the month, so now is a gut check for the Braves to see if they are able to live up to the standard of being an Atlanta Brave team.
