CHICAGO (N) - Chicago (N)'s left-hander Jason Christiansen suffered a severe injury on Tuesday and will be out for at least 5-6 weeks. In the 7th of the game against Arizona he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After being taken to a local hospital, Christiansen was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Strained Tricep Muscle. This season Christiansen compiled an ERA of 1.89, going 4-1 in 0 starts. He fanned 43 while giving up 29 hits in 47.2 innings.
Monday 9/12/2006: R.A. Dickey out for 5-6 weeks
BALTIMORE - Baltimore's right-hander R.A. Dickey suffered a severe injury on Monday and will be out for at least 5-6 weeks. In the 6th of the game against Cleveland he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. Inflamed Rotator Cuff Muscle was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. His ERA of 4.11 helped him to a 13-9 record this year. He struck out 105 and walked 29 in 186 innings. R.A. has pitched 2 shutouts and 4 complete games.

The American League's best player of the week was Kansas City's Trot Nixon, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. In 18 at bats he hit .556 with 4 HR and 9 RBI. Trot managed to drive in at least one run in every game he played this week. It's the 5th time that the National League Player of the Week award goes to Philadelphia's rightfielder Brian S. Giles. He had an on base percentage of .441 and hit .367, while driving in 7 runs. He now has homered in 3 consecutive games as well!
Sunday 9/11/2006: Kevin Millar nabs six hits against Boston
BOSTON - Kevin Millar saw the ball really well, leading Kansas City to a 18-4 win over Boston. His six hits thrilled his teammates and coaches, and Kevin seemed happy as well after the game. Number 2 in the 3rd inning accounted for a RBI double. He had singles in the 2nd inning , in the 4th inning (one RBI) , in the 6th , in the 7th and in the 9th . Kevin scored 4 runs, and he collected 2 RBI as well! He now has a total of 34 hits this season, accounting for a .281 batting average.

ARIZONA - Great days are rare. But not for Arizona's right-hander Chan Ho Park. Cincinnati found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just one hit. It's his 4th shutout this season, and the 32nd time he has done it in his career. 'Things like that happen. You take the mound and everything works. My velocity was pretty good today and I guess it showed.' Park (21-4) fanned 8 and walked 3, throwing 117 pitches. The hitting star for Arizona was first baseman Prince Fielder, he collected 2 hits in 4 trips to the plate, homering once, and collecting 2 RBI. Arizona improved its record to 101-41, scoring 3 runs on 6 hits.
