Wednesday 9/21/2006: Felix Heredia (NYA) will miss 5-6 weeks
NEW YORK (A) - New York (A) is without its southpaw Felix Heredia for at least 5-6 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Jason Bay in a game against Cleveland. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After being taken to a local hospital, Heredia was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Ruptured Tricep Tendon. His ERA of 4.98 helped him to a 1-1 record this year. He struck out 93 and walked 47 in 99.1 innings.

DETROIT - Detroit is without its right-hander Kiko Calero for at least 5 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Jody Gerut in a game against Toronto. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Pulled Tricep Muscle. Opposing players hit .238 against Kiko this season. While posting an ERA of 2.90 he went 9-1 in 0 starts, fanning 103 and walking 22 hitters.

Victor Martinez wins his 2nd Player of the Week award. American League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Martinez helped his team with an average of .381 and 8 RBI in 21 at bats. Martinez has hit for a .284 average this season. He has 65 extra base hits along with 247 total bases, resulting in a .539 slugging percentage. Chicago (N)'s leftfielder Shane Victorino had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the National League Player of the Week. Victorino helped his team with an average of .515 and 8 RBI in 33 at bats.
Friday 9/16/2006: Jorge Posada out for 6 weeks
SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco's catcher Jorge Posada will miss at least 6 weeks after he got hurt seriously while running hard toward second base. He began limping and then fell down, causing a scary moment for his teammates. He had to be carried off the field. San Francisco wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Posada had suffered a Torn Thigh Muscle. While compiling an on base percentage of .322, Jorge hit .241 and slugged .420. He has collected 77 runs batted in this year.
