Phillies Playoffs Report
Record: 11-1
Home: 6-0
Road: 5-1
Offense: 64 Runs (5.33/Game)
Notes: Our offense truly performed. They bailed Cole Hamels out every start en route to a win in his starts. When the bats needed to be there, they truly were. Absolutely impressive team effort with all of the guys chipping in at some point. We also stole 23 bases on 29 attempts (79%). We were relentless all season.
Pitching: 36 Runs Allowed (2.77 ERA)
Notes: The pitching honestly was incredible. If you think about it, Cole Hamels actually had half of our runs given up. He just didn’t have it, but we still have the utmost faith in him going into next season. He’ll be 23 next season.
Major League Spotlight
Best Hitter: LF Juan Gonzalez
Playoff Stats: .292/.327/.792/1.119 OPS 2 2Bs 2 3Bs 6 HRs 11 RBIs 13 Runs 3 BBs 5 Ks
Notes: Juan Gonzalez was pretty solid the moment he got here, but he certainly saved his best work for later. He hit 4 of his 6 dingers in the world series in what was one of the more impressive hitting performances the world series has ever seen in just 4 games. Excellent work by him.
Best Pitcher: SP Ben Sheets
Playoff Stats: 4 Starts 3-0 0.30 ERA 30.1 IP 20 Hs 1 ERs 3 BBs 23 Ks
Notes: Good lord. Ben Sheets truly wasn’t playing any games this postseason. He absolutely dominated the Pirates and D-Backs. The only thing that could stop him…was him. He got hurt in his 4th start where he was absolutely cruising. He was going to be able to pitch game 6 of the WS if necessary, but it never came to that. Ben Sheets absolutely out pitched Greinke and Chan Ho Park. Just capped off an amazing season. Truly dominant in every sense of the word.
