It looks like the Astros have put the final touch on their 2007 roster. Shocking nobody, Nomar Garciaparra was dealt for a pair of 3rd round picks, a pair of reliever prospects, and 1B Melvin Nieves. The Astros believe that will get the money right, if they make the playoffs. This deal lowers their payroll to the much more manageable $84 million range. Nieves does indeed feel like the final piece of the puzzle as he brings a middle of the lineup bat. He is expected to hit 3rd, behind Lou Ford and protected by Pat Burrell. It appears that the final roster will look like this:
