Sim 2 took a dark turn for the Astros as they lost SP Francisco Cordova to a torn tricep muscle. Dontrelle Willis will be called up from AAA and pitch out of the bullpen and Ted Lilly will fill the #4 spot in the rotation with Derek Lowe moving up to fill Francisco Cordova's turn at #3. To add insult to injury, Cordova lost talent in HR and BB on his way to the IR. We will reverse these at the end of the season, for now he can recover.
C Lieberthal took a tough HR talent drop which we will likely reverse as soon as we cash in on some of these articles.
As far as the results themselves, Bronson Arroyo proved that he belongs in the #1 slot, throwing 8.1 scoreless innings against Washington. After that the positives kind of stop for this sim. Cliff Lee's ERA has ballooned to over 7, Lew Ford is as cold as he was hot, Burrell, Wilson, Ford, and Stairs went a combined 9 for 70 over the last few games.
The good news is that the Astros only lost 1 game in the standings through that dreaded sim. Houston was able to win 2/3 against Washington and split the series against Atlanta. Some more good news is that the bullpen seems to have settled down. The only real outlier in the ERAs is the rookie, so there shouldn't be too much about that.
The fans have one more opportunity to see the Astros over the next 3 games as the Mets come to town. After that, they hit the road for 2 weeks. There are a couple of great giveaways during the mid week Mets series, take advantage of the deals if your kids are on Spring Break.
