Braves 5/24
Are the wheels starting to come off? Braves started the week with a 3 game skid, dropping the final 2 games of the Arizona series, and then lost to the Padres. Wow. Thankfully they were able to then get Rope to stop the bleeding getting a much needed win versus the Padres with a complete game winning 7 – 3. Maddux then followed that up getting the win again versus the Padres to give the Braves a win in the series two games to one.
Bud Smith only gave up one earned over eight innings leading the Braves to a 3 – 2 victory in the first game in Colorado of the series, for his league leading eighth win of the season.
To close out the week, Smoltz picked up his seventh win of the season giving the Braves wins in the first two games of the Rockies series.
The batters took the week off for the most part as the team tumbled from a .260 batting average to .251.
