When we visited the list the last time, Free was starting to hear footsteps, with a 3 base lead. During June he was able to open up the lead to a much safer 5 base lead. Podsednik shoots back onto the list and up into 2nd place one base ahead of Aaron Sanchez. Sanchez also had a good month, moving up the list from 5th to 3rd with 16 thefts in June. Rickie weeks moves up into a tie for 4th with Scott Rolen. Cedeno is a newcomer to the list from last month, and is in a threeway tie for 6th with Walker and Victorino, who both are also back on the list after falling off in June. Roberts and Utley round out the top 10 but have slowed down enough to be a concern to drop off the list in August.

Through 81 games Freel is on pace for 90 stolen bases, well off the pace. Podsednik will look to catch Freel in July and maybe, just maybe, in August we can talk about them both pushing each other back onto the pace to catch Lou.
I am already looking forward to the AL report, even as I finish typing up the NL.
