Well, the speculation is over. Greg Maddux has officially announced his retirement during the all star break. He had hinted at it earlier in the season, but during the break while he was set to appear in his 14th all star game, Greg just casually commented, yeah this one is gonna be special as it will be my last one. Period. And then he casually walked away to the locker room.
Greg currently is 14 – 5 on the season and looks to be a shoe in to get another 20 win season to close out his career. If he does it will be the 15th of his career.
Later one reporter managed to catch up to him as he was exiting the ballpark, and asked “Is there anything you want to do before calling it a night?” and Greg casually looked over his shoulder and said “get another title for the city of Atlanta...”.
One thing for his stat line that looks daunting is another 55Ks for 4000 SO total, but that will be daunting as he only has 57 so far.
