The Astros head into the middle of July 13 games back and seem to be wandering lost in the dark. The long days of summer don't seem to be shedding any light on a solution as the team currently finds themself in a 4 game losing streak. Frasor has dropped off the saves lead by two games, mostly because the team isn't winning. The team doesn't need back end bullpen domination if the back end of the bullpen isn't ever needed.
While frustration mounts at the ML level, things seem to be going ok in the minors. Zach Kroenke got the talent upgrade that fans have been longing for for so long. With a talent increase in strikeouts and homers it looks like he has secured his spot in the rotation within the next couple of years.
Julio Teheran took an DL talent drop but we will get that squared away and I think we should move up a slot or two from the 22nd farm slot.
Unbelievably, shipping Lieberthal away actually caused our hitting to drop, the hitting has been absolutely mind boggling this year. Pitching continues to rank around the top 10 in all categories. A lot of fans have called for Brian Anderson to get his extension. He came into Houston asking for an extension and claiming he was taking a pay cut from 10,000,0001 to 10,000,000 per year. As we saw with the Skitty situation, Astro management does not deal well with sarcasm. We will see how this situation develops.
Destiny does not seem to be in the favor of the Astros for 2007, but they now find themselves in danger of finishing with a worse record than a season ago. Should Joe Price be fired if that happens? Is Joe Price already on the hot seat?
