Thursday 7/28/2007: Minnesota's Manny Ramirez belts 500th career homerun
TORONTO - Manny Ramirez got a standing ovation from 35978 fans in Toronto, who witnessed his historic 500th career homerun. A 368 foot drive to left field marked his 500th career bomb, a solo homerun off Ramiro Mendoza in the 4th inning. Along with his 500 homeruns, Manny collected 2595 hits and 1694 RBI in 14 seasons. Manny hit 30+ homeruns in a season 11 times, hitting 40 bombs 3 times. 'I'm out of words. I'll probably realize it tomorrow, but for now I'm done.' The Hall of Fame already has reserved a place for this great player.
