Active Roster
Teams must carry a minimum of 23 players and up to a maximum of 25 players on the Active Roster. From September 1st to the end of the regular season, teams may carry up to a maximum of 40 players on their Active Roster.
Lineups & Rotation
Teams must ensure that each of the two (2) starting lineups (vs. RHP and vs. LHP) are filled. If a player is in a single lineup twice, it will crash the sim and cause a delay. It is just as important to adjust the depth chart every time there are personnel changes to the Active Roster. This is where one can decide how often back-up positional players will play and assign late-inning defensive replacements. Teams must have at least a 4-man rotation but may utilize a 5-man rotation. As the sim gets closer to the 1980s and beyond, a 5-man rotation may be a necessity.
Roster Requirements
After the Off-season Free Agency period and prior to the Opening Day Sim, the roster will be subject to the following:
- Any pitcher on major league roster with an Avoiding Runs rating under 5 and any position player where Hits and Walks ratings add up to under 10, such player is subject to demotion to the bench or AAA and will be replaced with players in the following sequence:
1) Minor leaguers 26+ having better ratings
2) Free Agent players having better ratings
3) All other minor leaguers (prospects) having better ratings
- Beginning June 1 of each season, any team having a winning percentage under .333 will be subject to the above, prior to either weekend sim, and may be any sim generally.
* Starting pitchers considered to have "better ratings" must have a SP duration rating of at least "D" to qualify.
* Every effort will be made to protect top prospects (particularly those under 24) who are not yet ready for major league action.
* Any in-season free agent signing necessary to achieve the above will have the 24-hour waiting period waived; that is, the Commissioner may sign players immediately.
* If a team has no money, the Commissioner will make every effort (re: edits) necessary to force the signings.
* The pitching rotation, depth charts and lineups on the major league roster as well as minor league system will then be auto'd.
Player Limitations
- Starting pitchers are limited to 40 starts. If any pitcher starts a 41st game during the regular season, said pitcher will be considered injured for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs, after the sim when such occurs. The following schedule and limits will be imposed: Beginning in 1977: 39 GS; 1982: 38 GS; 1987: 37 GS; 1992: 36 GS; 1997: 35 GS.
- Pitchers with no endurance rating as a starter cannot start games.
- Position Players may be played out of position on the Active Roster for up to 40 games without receiving a rating. Past that limit and if the player has not "learned" the new position, the player will be assigned ratings of .800 fielding percentage with E range.
- Any OF can play any other OF spot regardless of ratings, at any time, for any number of games.
- SS and 2B are similarly interchangeable.
- 3B may play 1B (not but vice versa) in the same unlimited fashion.
- No player may catch unless they have a catcher rating.
Injuries
Injured players may be placed on the disabled list; however, when a player from the Active Roster heals, he must be placed back on the Active Roster.
Players who suffer Career-Ending Injuries will be converted to a Season-Ending Injuries prior to File Flip.
Team Strategy
Teams may set specific settings for Team Offensive Tendencies, Team Defensive Tendencies and Individual Player Settings and can be changed at any time.
