Record: 18-11
Home: 10-4
Road: 8-7
Positive Team Stat: Opponents Average–.233 (5th)
Notes: Limiting hits is huge, and we are certainly one of the better teams to do it. I still think we have an even higher ceiling, but we are going up against some great teams in this department.
Negative Team Stat: Home Runs–135 (13th)
Notes: I mean, this probably won’t get it done. We should’ve hit way more dingers. Utley is sitting at 16. Granderson at 17. Russ Davis at 15. Rolen at 13. These guys have really killed me this year.
Major League Spotlight
Best Hitter: 2B Chase Utley
Stats: .355/.405/.626/1.031 OPS 8 2Bs 0 3Bs 7 HRs 18 RBIs 20 Runs 8 BBs 7 Ks
Notes: About damn time! Utley finally hits for power, and man he had a great month, but seems like it’s too little to late type shit. He’s really been our most disappointing hitter of the season, but it’s nice to see him have some life.
Best Pitcher: SPBen Sheets
Stats: 7 Starts 6-1 0.97 ERA 55.2 IP 36 Hs 6 ERs 10 BBs 54 Ks
Notes: I mean…who else could it be!? He was the pitcher of the month and for good reason! An ERA under 1 with a WHIP of about 0.82 is pretty absurd stuff. Actually incredible that he even had a loss this month, but of course our offense probably shat the bed in one of those games. Dominant month for the reigning Cy Young winner.
Minor League Spotlight
Prospect: OF Chris Young (AA)
Notes: This guy will forever be a monster in the minors. He just also doesn’t have a chance in hell (at the moment) of ever being a productive major leaguer. 3 straight seasons of an OPS over a 1.000.
