Braves Retiring
In what should not come as a surprise but was, left fielder Sherman Obando announced this will be his last season in the majors. At 38 he says he needs to spend more time with his family. Atlanta traded for him back in 2000 from Arizona.
While a solid player, Sherman never turned into the stud Atlanta hoped for when they traded for him. Season in and out he played great defense, and would hit 25 to 27 homers. Last season he got his second ring with the Braves.
Also joining Sherman in the soon to retire was Brave noob Mark Wohlers. Mark is also 38 and looking forward to just relaxing for a while now that his professional playing fays are coming to a close.
With the two announcements everyone is walking around on egg shells wondering about old man time, and if he will push his career into 2009. Time will tell.
