Saturday 5/7/2008: Robb Nen dominates Baltimore, throws NO-HITTER
BALTIMORE - Age doesn't matter. At least Kansas City's right-hander Robb Nen shares this opinion. The 38 year old pitched a no-hitter against Baltimore, showing the great stuff that made him famous for years. Carl Crawford spoiled the bid for a perfect game when he walked with no outs in the 7th inning. Nen (4-0) struck out 7 and issued 2 BB, throwing 72 of 118 pitches for strikes. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches. I'm so happy that it was enough to pitch such a great game.' Eric Chavez provided St. Louis with the offense Perez needed as he finished with 1 hit in 4 AB, blasting a homerun, with 2 RBI. The final score of the game was 2-0.
Friday 5/6/2008: Ryan Howard blisters three bombs
SAN DIEGO - San Diego beat Pittsburgh 14-5, but that was not the real story of the game. Ryan Howard was, as he went deep three times. His 1st shot, a solo homerun off Brian J. Anderson in the 3rd inning, cleared the fence in left field. Number 2 in the 5th inning, a shot estimated at 364 feet, cleared the wall in right field. His 3rd shot, off Brian Lawrence in the 8th inning, was a two-run homerun and cleared the fence in left-center. Overall he got 3 hits in 5 AB, with three runs scored with 5 RBI.
